Bikeshorts Film Festival highlights the arts and health

The Taubman Museum is always a buzz with new exhibits, but Friday, it was short films that got people's attention.

The third annual "Bikeshorts Film Festival" has gotten interest from all over the country and the world.

Applicants submitted films no longer than 2 minutes about the joy of biking. Three winners were picked and received cash prizes as well as unique awards. Organizers of the event say while the festival is about the films, it's also about helping people make small changes.

"Really what we do at Ride Solutions is to think about some of those alternatives when they can.  It's not about doing it every time and changing your lifestyle, it's just about making a smart decision," Tyler Godsey of Ride Solutions told Your Hometown News Leader.

May is National Bike Month.

Ride Solutions and Roanoke Outside helps the community take advantage of alternative transportation options.
