Former Miss Virginia loses fight after ten year battle with cancer
ROANOKE, Va. -

A community in Covington is remembering a well-known former Miss Virginia.

Susan Parker Potter won the crown in Roanoke in 1984.

She went onto the Miss America pageant and earned a prestigous talent award.

Potter died yesterday morning at just 51 years old.

For ten years she's been battling with breast cancer but remained active in the community.

Family members say they'll remember Potter for her kind spirit and desire to put others first in front of herself.

Visitation for Potter will be Monday at Loving Funeral Home in Covington from 4 to 8.

The funeral will be at 2 in the afternoon. on Tuesday at  McAllister Presbyterian Church also in Covington.
