Roanoke Police looking into shooting at grocery store
Roanoke, Va. -

Roanoke Police are also investigating a shooting at a grocery store.

Officers were called to the Lafayette Grocery in the northwest section of the city shortly before 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Store employees say they heard gunshots near the store.

One employee said a bullet grazed his pants.

The store and a vehicle parked outside were struck.

No arrests at this point.


Here's more information from Roanoke Police:

The Roanoke Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault that occurred on June 2, 2013.

Officers responded at 3:18 a.m. to the Lafayette Grocery located in the 1000 block of Lafayette Blvd.

Upon arrival they located two store employees, identified as two adult males.

One of the employees stated that two males entered the store and requested to purchase merchandise.

The males were told by the employee that the store was closed.

The males exited the store.

The two employees stated that they then heard gunshots.

One of the employees stated that a bullet grazed his pants, but he was not shot.  The other employee was not hurt.

The store and a vehicle outside of the store were both struck.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the events that occurred outside of the store prior to the shooting.
