LYNCHBURG, Va. -

Baptists from across Virginia are making it their mission to help people in Lynchburg.

The Virginia Baptist Mission Board is hosting an event this week called "Missions Connection Celebration."

People from all age groups are doing service projects to help non-profits and individuals.

WDBJ7 caught up with one group Thursday, who helped replace a roof on Brook Street.

"During the year you do a lot of things to benefit your own life, but every now and then it's good to come and help someone else with what they need help with," said James Crenshaw, a missionary from Lunenburg County.

Mission Connection Celebration ends Friday. Participants are staying at the Eagle Eyrie Conference Center in Bedford County. Each night they gather for worship and bible study, while preparing for the next day's mission projects.
