Bedford woman charged with stabbing her husband several times with butcher knife

BEDFORD, Va. -

A Bedford woman has been charged with stabbing her husband several times with a butcher knife Monday night.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. in the 500 block of Plunkett Street in the Town of Bedford. Evelina Nellum, 56, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.
Investigators say when they got to the Plunkett Street home Nellum’s husband had been stabbed several times.

Nellum is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where she is being held without bond. Her husband was treated at Bedford Memorial Hospital.
