Buena Vista pastor accused of molesting children awarded bond

Larry Clark is known for organizing the Virginia Southern Gospel Festival for the last 12 years.
These new charges are changing that reputation for some people, but not everyone.

BUENA VISTA, Va. -

The Buena Vista pastor accused of molesting two children was awarded bond Tuesday morning.

Larry Clark was awarded a $7,500 secured bond.  He was ordered to not have contact with minors. Clark posted bond Tuesday afternoon.

Clark is due back in court for a preliminary hearing at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 9.

Clark, 61, is the Pastor at Pentecostal Outreach Church in Buena Vista.

A preacher known for organizing a large gospel music event in the region is in jail charged with taking indecent liberties against children.

Pastor Larry Clark tonight is accused of sex crimes against two children.

Clark, 61, is the Pastor at Pentecostal Outreach Church in Buena Vista.

It's believed these crimes happened over a three-month period during the summer and fall of 2011.

According to a search warrant, one child was molested in the bathroom of Clark’s home.

The search warrant also says Clark contacted his second victim through Facebook asking him to come over. According to the warrant, Clark molested the victim then took him back home.

For the last 12 years the preacher and his congregation have put on the Virginia Southern Gospel Festival in Buena Vista.

The festival is usually a three-day event and attracts hundreds from all over the country.

Sheriff's investigators searched Pastor Clark's home Thursday before arresting him.

He's charged with three different felonies.

A judge denied his bond. He is being held in the Rockbridge County Jail.

Investigators took a computer, eight VHS tapes, 32 CDs, and five camcorder tapes from Larry Clark’s home. They also took photographs inside of Clark’s East 41st Street to corroborate two victims' statements.

On Thursday, November 7th, investigators with the Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on the residence of Larry Clark, 61, pastor of the Pentecostal Outreach Church in Buena Vista. At the completion of the search, Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Clark on three felony warrants.

Clark was denied bond by the Magistrate and is currently being held in the Rockbridge Regional Jail.

While being eighteen years of age or over and maintaining a custodial or supervisory relationship with a child under the age of 18 who was not the spouse of the accused and who is not emancipated, with lascivious intent, knowingly and intentionally sexually abuse such child as defined in §18.2-67.10[6].
