Making friends isn't always easy for kids with autism.
But thanks to a summer camp through the Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center, many of them are having fun and making lasting friendships.
As seven-year-old camper Naziah Terry puts it, "Being at Camp AuSome is really awesome. This is the best summer ever."
Camp AuSome is a three- week camp in Salem that offers children with autism a traditional camp experience that they might not otherwise have.
Campers go swimming, horseback riding, and makes arts and crafts, all while working on crucial social skills with their peers.
This year the Blue Ridge Autism and Achievement Center received a $2,000 scholarship from Autism Speaks to help financially disadvantaged children attend camp.
