DANVILLE, Va. -

The waiting game is on for many towns, cities and counties.

Crews got a head start Tuesday as most of the day was spent spreading brine along the roads in preparation for Wednesday’s snowfall.

“I’m ready for it,” said Danville resident Dudley Clayton. “C’mon let’s have it.”

The chance of a heavy snowfall has the city of Danville talking.

“You heard people say watch out for the other guy that’s what I’m worried about the other guy,” said business owner Michael Wilson.

It was business as usual for most people in Danville Tuesday night, but the city’s public works is preparing for what it believes could be one of the biggest snowfalls in years.

Danville Fire Department Assistant Chief Steve Dishman said snow always has a way of slowing things down in the city.

“It disrupts transportation that type of thing,” he said. “Obviously there’s the potential for power outages and that type of thing especially with this type of snow.”

Word of Wednesday’s projected snow is nothing more than a headache for some Danville business owners who have no choice but to stay open in the winter weather.

“I’m in a transportation business, so I don’t look forward to it because we transport patients to the hospital,” said Wilson.

Others say they’re ready to see what Mother Nature will bring our way on Wednesday.

“I just got a lot of kid in me,” said Clayton. “It’s just like it was when I was a youngster.”

Danville Utilities expects some power outages with the snow storm.

If power is lost, customers are reminded to call the 24-hour emergency number at 434-773-8300.
