DANVILLE, Va. -

Students in southern Virginia are starting school with a book bag full of supplies.

Tuesday folks stuffed the Danville Boys and Girls Club bus with paper, crayons, pencils, and anything a students needs for school in Pittsylvania County.

Our media partners at 104.5 The Dan hosted the organization on route 29 in Danville.

Anne Holton, the Virginia Secretary of Education, and Governor Terry McAuliffe stopped by to show support.

"We realize that the need is great and this allows the youth throughout the region to basically come to school prepared and to get off on a good foot as they start their school year," said Faith Stamps, director of the Danville Boys and Girls Club.

Everything donated today goes to about 500 members of the Danville and Pittsylvania County Boys and Girls Clubs including students from low income families who can't afford school supplies.
