UPDATE: Danville resident hospitalized after being hit by vehicle

Danville Police have given us more information about the incident involving a person being hit by a car Saturday night:

A 56-year-old Danville City resident was crossing the road at the intersection of Corning Drive and West Main Street southbound when an older model van struck the victim.

The vehicle, possibly a Dodge Caravan, continued northbound on West Main Street at a high rate of speed after hitting the victim.

The person hit suffered moderate injuries to upper and lower extremities and was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center.

A person was taken to the hospital after being hit by vehicle tonight in Danville.

It happened around shortly before 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of  Corning Drive and West Main Street.

Police say the person was crossing the street when they were hit.

The victim was taken to the hospital.  It's unclear how badly s/he was injured.

We're also waiting to hear if police are searching for the driver.
