EAGLE ROCK, Va. -

Wine and domestic violence don't usually go hand-in-hand, but that was the exception today in Botetourt County.

The Blue Ridge Vineyard in Eagle Rock hosted a Wine and Wellness event.

Those who attended were served a catered dinner and wine tasting. Other activities included games, spa services, haircuts, even acupuncture.

All the money raised will benefit domestic abuse survivors by setting up a safe house.

The statistics are shocking: one if four women have experienced or will experience domestic violence in her life.

That helped motivate one of today's organizers to take action.

"There is no real counseling service available in Botetourt County, and we thought, 'We should do something about that.'"

Organizers hope events like this will inspire abused women to seek help.

They stress that no matter what these women are going through, there is a way out of their situation.
