The Roanoke furniture chain that sells Paula Deen branded items says it has "serious concerns" about Deen's recent admission she has used racial slurs.
Grand Home Furnishings released a statement Monday saying it is fair to "let the facts play out before taking action."
Last week, it was revealed that Deen admitted using racial slurs in the past. The admission came when Deen was questioned as part of a discrimination lawsuit.
Here is the complete statement from Grand Home Furnishings:
As one of the many thousands of retailers selling Paula Deen branded products we have serious concerns about the recent matter that has come to light.
The news coverage of this issue has many rushing to judgment as well as many others rushing to Paula Deen’s defense. We believe it is only fair to let the facts play out before taking action. We understand that she will tell her side of the story Wednesday morning on NBC’s The Today Show.
Considering the nature of the allegations, it’s important that Grand’s customers and employees understand our own corporate philosophy. Grand does not tolerate discrimination. We don’t run our business that way but more importantly, we don’t live our lives that way. Discrimination of any sort is contrary to both our personal and our corporate philosophy. Our company is in fact full of diversity and we are richer for it.
