Hollywood actor Erik Estrada spoke at the CommUNITY Church in Salem and screened his new film UNCOMMON, a family-friendly movie with important lessons

SALEM, Va. -

A Hollywood actor found himself in our region as he promoted his new film, "UNCOMMON."

Erik Estrada helped make the film possible and spoke at The Community Church in Salem, one of the first places to hold a screening.

The movie is the second in a series of films designed to offer, faith-based, family-friendly entertainment, which Estrada is an advocate for.

"UNCOMMON" tells the story of a group of fighting for religious liberties in public schools.

Estrada says the film drives home an important lesson.

"This is needed. This isn't about fighting or anything, this is just simply you've got a right to express your beliefs, your heart-felt beliefs. Kids need to know this."

The film was produced in association with Liberty Counsel, a non-profit organization advocating religious freedom internationally.
