More than one thousand people are expected tonight at New River Community College in Dublin. There's a very special graduation ceremony taking place.

Hundreds of people in our area received their GEDs Friday night.

People gathered for the special ceremony at New River Community College in Dublin on Friday.

Some of these students have been taking classes for years.

The graduates said they're proof that anyone can do it.

"It doesn't matter who you are, how old you are, where you come from. It doesn't matter. It's never too late to go back to be who you want to be,” graduate Cara Raines said.

We're told there are also big changes coming to the GED program next year.

The testing will be more challenging and be fully computerized.

"The standards for that test have changed so it will be a completely different test come January. What we're trying to do is help spread the word to everyone out there,” Jenny Bolte of New River Community College said.
