The fire marshal said Hylton Hall, formerly part of Dan River Mills, was purposely set on fire in April.

DANVILLE, Va. -

It's now up to a judge to decide who's responsible for a building damaged by fire last year.

The fire marshal said Hylton Hall, formerly part of Dan River Mills, was purposely set on fire in April.

The owner was hopeful the building could be restored but didn't have the money.

City leaders wanted it torn down and determined it costs up to half a million dollars to do it.

They want the owner to pay for the demolition and took him to court.

The owner says he still plans to rebuild.
