The March of Dimes got a big boost today from the Alleghany Highlands.
Covington hosted its second annual Bands and Bags for Babies at the Wiley Pavilion.
Folks got to listen to live music from several bands and DJs.
There were also 50/50 drawings, and lots of raffle prizes were given out.
In addition to the food and fun, there was also a corn hole tournament.
For the woman behind today's event, making sure every baby born has a fighting chance is a personal mission.
"My son was born at 26 weeks, and I lost a daughter at 5 days [old]. So I decided to do this in my community, where I grew up so we can raise a lot of money for the March of Dimes," said Deana Mitchell, chairwoman for Alleghany March For Babies.
Organizers hoped to raise two-thousand dollars through today's event.
