One woman was swept some 100 feet down Craig Creek.

The Salem Fire and EMS department performed 12 boat rescues in the overnight hours from the two evacuated trailer mobile home parks in the city.

These took place at Ramey’s Mobile Home Park and Salem Mobile Home Village.

The Riverland Trailer Park has been evacuated on a voluntary basis.

The Roanoke River crested at 3 a.m. in Salem at nine feet along Tidewater Drive, which is two feet above flood stage.

This caused not only the evacuation of the mobile home parks, but also closed the low water bridge on Mill Lane.

That bridge remains closed  as the waters slowly recede.

The Red Cross is manning the shelter at Andrew Lewis Middle School that opened around midnight.

It is helping a handful of displaced individuals at this time.

The concerns the rest of the day are heavy isolated storms hitting the already extremely saturated ground.
