Parents need to make sure children get required immunizations in these weeks before school stars.

As summer starts winding down, parents of school aged children need to make sure their kids have the required vaccines for school.

If you haven't already done so, there is still time to get immunizations including those for diptheria, measles, mumps and tetanus, just to name a few.

You can check out the Virginia Department of Health for a complete list of required vaccines.

Dr. John Moore with Botetourt Pediatric Associates says it's also important to start getting school children headed back into their normal routines.

He says bedtimes and meal times often get off schedule over the summer, so it's important for families to start easing back to normalcy in the coming weeks before the new school year starts.
