Forget about the Ferris wheel and fried foods, an upcoming fair is going back to basics and focusing on the efforts of farmers.
After being on hold for a couple of decades, Botetourt County is bringing back its fair.
The family-friendly event will focus on the county's agricultural efforts.
"There's been a huge local foods movement so we're going to bring back the local foods expo and highlight what foods are being produced in Botetourt County and what are available for people to use as well as highlight what 4H and FFA are doing in the county," says Agricultural Extension Agent Kate Lawrence.
The Botetourt County Fair is happening August 10th at the Buchanan fairgrounds.
It starts at noon and goes until 8 o'clock.
The event is free.
