Police have released the name of the man who drowned in a culvert near his home in Botetourt County Thursday morning.
Craig Ricker, 42, of Buchanan, was trying to clear debris when he drowned.
Ricker's wife told investigators that he fell into the water and was then pulled into the culvert. She said she tried to jump in to help her husband, but got stuck. She was able to free herself about ten minutes later and call 911.
The sheriff's office says rescue crews were called to the 3200 block of Mount Joy Road around 4:45 Thursday morning, but when the rescue unit arrived Ricker had been found and was pronounced dead.
