Roanoke Mayor David Bowers says the city is heading in the right direction. In his State of the City Address Friday morning, he said Roanokers should take that message to heart.
Bowers spoke to members of the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce.
His list of city accomplishments was long, including improvements under way in Elmwood Park, to the recent announcement that passenger rail will return to Roanoke.
He said it's time for Roanokers to embrace the positive news. "I do believe that Roanokers should take that message to heart," Bowers told the audience. "After all, we are on the right track. Our future looks grand, and Roanoke as solid and friendly as the mountains of Virginia is getting better every day."
Friday's speech was Bower's 14th State of the City Address. He is now serving his 4th term as Roanoke City Mayor.
