UPDATED: No explosives found at Roanoke County gas station

10:30 p.m. update:

On Sunday, 6/15/2014 at about 6:35p.m., officers from the Roanoke County Police Department responded to a report of two unattended duffel bags at the Oak Grove Shell at 2001 Electric Road.

The area of Oak Grove Plaza near the Shell station was secured by Roanoke County Officers with assistance from the Roanoke City Police Department.

After investigation it was determined that that the two suitcases contained personal effects and it appears they were left at this location accidentially.

The Roanoke County Police Department is currently investigating the report of a suspicious package in the area of Oak Grove Plaza on Electric Road. At this time, traffic in the area isn't being affected by the investigation. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.


WDBJ7 has just learned that Roanoke Police and other law enforcement are on the scene near a Shell gas station in the 2000 block of Electric Road.

The owner of the gas station says there appears to be suspicious packages or suitcases in the area and that bomb sniffing dogs were assisting officers.

Officials have not confirmed what caused the response but stay with WDBJ7 for the latest information .
