The calendar may indicate summer is still going strong, but it's back to work for students in Salem.
Roanoke College's Class of 2017 moved in Saturday, and Sunday they continued to get adjusted to college life.
Orientation weekend helps new students and their families learn the ins and outs of Maroon life.
Sunday morning, there was an induction ceremony followed by brunch.
This was the last event before families prepared to say goodbye.
"This is a time of a lot of excitement, a lot of hope and a lot of dreams as students and their parents come to college and really get a taste of the Roanoke Valley and Roanoke College," explains Dr. Gene Zdziarski, Roanoke College VP Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
Orientation continues for new students, they'll visit downtown Roanoke.
And, over the next couple of days they'll start the annual freshman project, "R House," which builds a home for a needy family.
