A company based in Ohio announced Tuesday that it will spend $45 million to upgrade its operation in Amherst County.
Greif, which has been in Amherst County since 1975, employs 300 people. The company makes packaging products.
“Investing $45 million in technology upgrades secures the mill’s competitiveness in the containerboard market, and thus secures the future of the operation and its employees for years to come,” Governor McDonnell wrote in a news release.
According to a news release, the upgrade includes technology improvements that will reduce the amount of energy used to make paper products.
