A Lynchburg man is dead after a crash involving three motorcycles took place in Charlotte County Saturday.
According to a news release, Stephen Eberhardt, 51, was driving a Harley-Davidson Fatboy on Route 47 when a deer struck the motorcycle, knocking him off of the bike.
Eberhardt was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident took place less than a mile north of Route 649 around 11:17 a.m.
A Harley-Davidson Road King and a Harley-Davidson Wide Glide were traveling with Eberhardt. The other two motorcyclists also crashed as they swerved to avoid the Fatboy motorcycle.
The driver of the Fatboy motorcycle, 54-year-old Joseph Henly of Gretna was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. A passenger on the motorcycle, 52-year-old Dora Henley, also was seriously hurt.
The operator of the Wide Glide, 47-year-old Harvey Morgan of Concord, also was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
All four were wearing helmets.
