Rustburg boy was diagnosed with cancer at age 2

It was a good day to get out and run, so why not for a good cause?

Today in Lynchburg at Peaks View Park: a 5K was held to benefit Hope For Tomorrow, the non-profit started by the Norman Family.

Nathan Norman is a six-year-old diagnosed with pediatric cancer when he was two.

Hope For Tomorrow is new, but its aim is to help families who deal with childhood cancers.

For Nathan's mother Dawn, the run was also an opportunity to educate.

"We wanted to allow people the opportunity not only to be aware but to have an action to go with it, because awareness is great, but what are you going to do with that? Liking a few things on facebook or just saying "oh man, that's too bad" That's not going to help anything," said Nathan's mother, Dawn Norman.

Two hundred runners participated in the race, and Dawn Norman will raise around $5,000 because of the event.
