UPDATE: Police identify body found in Roanoke neighborhood

Police found a body of a person inside a car in the parking lot of an condominium complex.


UPDATE: 8/20/13

Roanoke police have identified the body found in a car Saturday afternoon at Southview Condominiums.

The body has been identified as Daniel Rank, 28, of Goode, Virginia.

According to a news release, the car Rank's body was found in belongs to him.

There is no indication of foul play at this time. Investigators are awaiting the toxicology report before making a decision on the case.

Roanoke police continue working to learn the identity of a body found in a car this weekend.

Saturday, police were called to the Southview Condominiums on Peters Creek Road.

Neighbors say there was an odor coming from the area.

Police tell WDBJ7 that the body has been sent to the medical examiners office, but won't say whether it was a man or a woman.

Residents tell WDBJ7 there was a foul odor in the air. Police have confirmed a body was found in a black Mazda 3.

Police have roped off a large portion of the parking lot in Southview Condominiums.

Residents and neighboring church parishioners had to move their vehicles as police expanded and taped off the scene as part of the investigation.
