New River Valley reporter Orlando Salinas is live in Pulaski where the attack happened.

A Pulaski man was stabbed after someone stole prescription drugs from his home.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. in the 500 block of Pepper’s Ferry Road.

According to the Pulaski Police Department, the suspect told the victim, M.D. Rutherford that his car was broken down. The 64-year-old victim allowed the man into his home, and then the suspect stabbed him.

The suspect stole prescription drugs and other items from the home. Rutherford was found Thursday morning by his brother after he did not answer the phone. Rutherford was taken to a Roanoke hospital with serious injuries.

Pulaski Middle School was locked down Thursday morning because it's right across the street.

Dublin Elementary School was also on separate, precautionary lockdown Thursday morning.  The school system says that was because of a rumored domestic situation.
