Cloudy skies aren't putting a big damper on sales at this year's Salem Fair.
“I think the people are still coming out. The weather has not been that great but over all I've think they're dealing with it,” said vendor Ken Harvell.
For a few years Harvell has served up fair favorites. He says the rain scares away some visitors but they make up for lost time.
“They're eating; I see a lot of smiles on everybody's faces. Everybody is having a good time, said Harvell.
Rich Knebel has been a vendor at the Salem Fair for more than 20 year, showcasing animals. He's says rain or shine visitors continue to fill the fair grounds.
“This fair just draws the people. It could be rainy, they'll slack off a little bit but it seems like the next day when it’s nice or that evening they're back again,” said Knebel.
Some fair goers came prepared just in case a shower or two rolled by; they say going home is not an option.
Heck no, I'd gather everybody here under the umbrella and we wait it out,” said Robert Glenney
“The rides are great. It’s worth the money, lot fun great food, and it's really great,” said Leigh Ann Jamerson.
Though cloudy skies aren't too far away, neither are umbrella and the willingness to have some fun, wet or dry.
