9:30 p.m. update from Virginia State Police:
The Virginia State Police are continuing their investigation into a two vehicle traffic crash that occurred this afternoon shortly before 6:00 pm on Route 460 eastbound at Route 607 in Bedford County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a Ford Explorer which was being operated by Christie Lynn Hall, age 25, of Montvale, Virginia was pulling out of Route 607 attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of Route 460 when it was struck by a Jeep Liberty which was eastbound and was being operated by Ashley Denise Kelso, age 25, of Bedford, Virginia.
The impact caused the Jeep Liberty to overturn onto its side and shut down both eastbound lanes for a short period of time.
Ashley Kelso was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and she was transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. The driver of the Explorer Christie Lynn Hall and her front seat passenger Saundra Hall, age 46, of Montvale, Virginia were both transported to Roanoke Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both were wearing safety belts at the time of the crash.
Christie Lynn Hall the operator of the Explorer was charged with fail to yield right of way.
Both lanes of Route 460 East in the Montvale area of Bedford County are closed because of an accident.
The accident is near Montvale Street.
Drivers can expect delays.
