Runners took their marks for the first-ever Hokie half marathon.
Sunday morning, approximately 22-hundred people laced up their sneakers for the 13-point-1 mile race.
A sea of maroon and orange greeted runners as they worked their way through Blacksburg and then onto the Huckleberry Trail before hitting the road again.
While the air may have been crisp for some, one man says it was perfect for a run.
"Being out there with people who really love running and want to solidify the community and want to make it a great place to be, I think that's a great thing," says runner Anthony Dove.
The event wasn't just for long distance runners.
There was also a 5k and even pets took the course.
Proceeds from the Hokie Half will benefit a number of organization including some local schools and reading programs.
