A string of slashed tires in Amherst County has set off an investigation.
On the weekend of July 6-8, at least 16 tires were cut at five locations in Amherst County. It happened from Madison Heights, to the backwoods of the George Washington-Jefferson National Forest.
According to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office, the most remote location was at Panther Falls where the vehicles of four visitors had their tires slashed.
The other locations are:
- Boxwood Farm Road, July 6th; six tires were damaged on two vehicles
- Amelon Road, July 7th; a tire was cut on a parked vehicle
- Branch Drive, July 8th; a tire on a parked vehicle was cut
- Ambrose Rucker Road, July 8th; four tires were cut on a parked vehicle
It’s not clear if all of the incidents are connected. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900.
