WDBJ7's Melissa Gaona takes us to Pulaski County to introduce us to one woman who made an expensive, but maybe worthwhile decision

PULASKI COUNTY, Va. -

UPDATE: WDBJ7 spoke with Linda Fasnacht on Saturday afternoon, August 3rd, only to find out that Lucky will have surgery!

Fasnacht says she needed $1,000 for the surgery.

After her story aired on WDBJ7, she was able to raise $1885.

Lucky is scheduled to have his leg amputated at the end of August 2013.

Fasnacht says if any money is left over she will donate it to local organizations that help animals.

----------

Linda Fasnacht lives in Pulaski County with her husband Richard and cat Midnight.

Last week, Linda left her home to get gas.

Stuck at a very busy intersection during the lunch hour, Linda noticed something in the middle of the road.

At first, Linda thought it was a deal animal but she soon realized it was a tiny white kitten about six weeks old.

Linda pulled over, got out of her car, waved her hands, and stopped traffic to save the kitten.

Once Linda got the kitten home, she noticed his leg was deformed.

Veterinarians say the kittens leg has a genetic deformity and it must be amputated quickly while he is still a kitten.

Unfortunately for Linda, the surgery and expenses exceed $1,000.

Linda named the kitten "Lucky" and now she's trying to raise the money to save his life.
