The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the man who died Wednesday morning in a shooting in Madison Heights.
Ronald Lloyd was found dead in the front yard of the Ewers Lane home early Wednesday. He was 56.
“The specific manner and cause of death has not been determined by (the) office at this time,” the Sheriff’s Office wrote in a news release.
59-year-old Nancy Lloyd was injured during the incident. She was admitted to Lynchburg General Hospital.
The incident has been described as a domestic shooting. No suspects are being pursued.

The Amherst County Sheriff's Office is continuing the investigation of the shooting on Ewers Lane Madison Heights that occurred Wednesday April 23rd.
The female who was wounded is identified as Nancy B Lloyd, a 59 year old female of Ewers Lane. She was initially treated by Paramedics on scene and transferred to the Emergency Department at Lynchburg General Hospital where was she was treated and admitted.
The deceased male is identified as Ronald Lee Lloyd, a 56 year old male also of Ewers Lane. His body was transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for autopsy. The specific manner and cause of death has not been determined by their office at this time.
The matter is being investigated as a domestic related event. A handgun was recovered from the scene, and no suspects are being sought.
A Madison Heights woman is in the hospital after investigators were called to her home early Wednesday morning.
They found a man dead in the grass.

It was just before 5o'clock Wednesday morning the Amherst County Sheriff's Office got the call.
When they arrived at the home in the 400-block of Ewers Lane in Madison Heights they found a man dead in the front yard.
They found a woman shot inside the home.
People in this quiet Madison Heights neighborhood were shocked and say things like this don't happen here.
They had positive things to say about the couple and were concerned about the woman's condition.
WDBJ7 spoke with one neighbor who told us, he'll be forever indebted to the man found dead Wednesday.
He said when that man was a young boy, he saved his niece from a dog attack and suffered severe injuries to his own ear and face- scars that were visible even in present day.
The Amherst County Sheriff Office says it plans on releasing more information on the case Thursday.
A man is dead following a shooting in Amherst County early Wednesday morning.
The shooting happened around 5 a.m. in the 400 block of Ewers Lane in Madison Heights. The original call came in as a domestic shooting, according to the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived they found a man dead in the front yard. An injured woman was inside of the home. She was treated by Amherst County Public Safety paramedics and taken to Lynchburg General Hospital where she was admitted.
The man’s body has been sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Roanoke for an autopsy.
The Amherst County Sheriff’s Office says it will not comment further on the incident or release the victim’s name Wednesday.

Shortly after five am a call was received regarding a domestic shooting.
Arriving Deputies found a deceased male in the front yard and an injured female inside the residence. The male’s body has been sent to the Chief Medical Examiner‘s office in Roanoke for autopsy.
The investigation is continuing.
