Martinsville residents to expect delays during $308,000 paving project

Expect traffic delays on several Martinsville streets as the city undergoes a $308,000 paving project.

The paving starts on Monday and is expected to be completed by June 30.

The city will pave the right lane of eastbound Commonwealth Boulevard from the entrance at Liberty Fair Mall to Liberty Street; the right lane of northbound Memorial Boulevard from the City limits to 1011 Memorial Boulevard; and Liberty Street from Dillard Street through the intersection with Commonwealth Boulevard.

Construction will also start on Royal Drive, Palace Court, Castle Lane, Melody Lane, Melody Court, Pinehall Road, Wray Street, Fairy Street Extension, Valient Lane, Whittle Road, 5th Street from Memorial Boulevard to Union Street, 2nd Street, Marshall Street, B Street from 5th Street to Fourth Street.

There will be construction crews from Thompson-Arthur Street, Clift Street from Starling Avenue to Cole Street, Askin Street to dead end, and F Street from Second.

Construction crews will be restricting access to newly paved areas while they cure. Residents are encouraged to avoid these areas during paving and curing.
