Martinsville Community Clean Up

MARTINSVILLE, Va. -

Some Members of the Martinsville community and some elected officials did a little bit of neighborhood cleaning to keep things in shape.

This was part of the annual cleanup effort "Day to Serve." Several Faith-based organizations participated in the event. Those who live here say it's extremely important to keep the neighborhood clean.

“We're a small community and if we don't take care of it then we will not grow. It would not invite other people to be able to see the value and the beauty of this city as a wonderful place,” said City Council Member, Sharon Brooks Hodge.

“I’m feeling pretty good about seeing the results after you go through a street and then you look back and see what you've done; it’s worth it, said Commonwealth's Attorney, Joan Ziglar.

Four different churches help to participate in the event.
