A multi-million dollar project is nearing the end in Covington.
A bio-mass boiler is under construction at the Mead Westvaco plant.
The $285-million project will give the mill the capacity to generate its own energy.
The boiler will burn bark and other parts of the tree that usually goes to waste.
The company spokesperson tells WDBJ7, not only will the new project lower costs, it will lower the plant's emissions.
The boiler is expected to be completed in September.
