Just a few hours ago, a grand jury decided there's enough evidence to take Randy Allen Taylor to trial

LOVINGSTON, Va. -

The mother of 17-year-old Alexis Murphy is talking to WDBJ 7 about her daughter's accused abductor.

A grand jury indicted Randy Allen Taylor on Tuesday in a Nelson County courtroom. So far, Taylor is the only person charged in her disappearance.

Laura Murphy, Alexis’ mother, is happy Taylor will remain in jail until his trial.

In the meantime, Murphy's family is holding out hope that he will tell investigators where Alexis is.

"I was happy,” she said. “Still sad I don't have my daughter but happy they got an indictment on him."

Murphy has no doubt in her mind Taylor is the person responsible for her daughter’s disappearance.

"I know he knows where she at,” she told WDBJ 7. “He just needs to go and tell the truth. The truth will set you free."

A grand jury indicted Taylor on two felonies.

One is for the abduction of Alexis Murphy. The second is a new and unrelated charge after investigators found a stolen all-terrain vehicle on his property.

It's been nearly two months and there's still no sign of Alexis.

Laura said this has all been a horrible experience no parent should have to go through.

"She's missing her senior year and she was very excited for her senior year,” she said. “Playing volleyball and being the captain on the team. She was very excited and it hurts a whole lot."

Alexis’ mother fears the worst has yet to come for the family.

"My daughter loved Halloween and she was looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas spending it with her family,” she said when talking about Alexis’ disappearance. “It's hard."

Taylor will be back in court on October 23. A trial date will be scheduled for the case.

As for the Murphy's, they are planning a number of events in the upcoming weeks for Alexis.
