You'll soon have more options at a Roanoke strip mall.
WDBJ7’s Melissa Gaona spent some time at Towers Shopping Center to find out what shoppers can expect next.
Nancy Puskarczyk drove about an hour just to shop there.
"I came from Ferrum, yep, I'm going to the Fresh Market, gotta go to the Dollar Tree, Little Bit Hippy, and I just came from Kroger,” said Puskarczyk. "I like the Fresh Market because we don't have a lot of organic stuff in Rocky Mount and I just like the area."
She's not the only one. Some have shopped here for more than 50 years.
"It was back in the 60s when it was built. But it’s still booming and it’s wonderful to see it come to life again. There for a while I didn't think it was going to make it," said Louise Myers.
Several new businesses have recently come to this shopping center. Gone Coco was in downtown Roanoke for two decades and moved into Towers about nine months ago.
"It’s been thriving, we have a lot of our loyal customers that have followed us over but we also have a lot of new faces," said Dian Tapscott, sales manager of Gone Coco.
Towers already has about 50 stores, but six more businesses are on the list to open soon. They include Massage Envy Spa, Mission BBQ, Phenix Salon Suites, Piety, The Stem Connection, and Christy's.
"Everything is great ya know, the people are good and I love the shopping where you can park, no problems with parking,” said Martha Potter.
The management company Rappaport believes the future of Towers is bright. It says the shopping center will only get bigger. They’re even discussing some remodeling, but nothing is definitive at this point.
