Roanoke, Va -

Viewers will see new faces on WDBJ7 in July. The leader for news coverage in the Roanoke-Lynchburg market has expanded its staff with the addition of a new meteorologist and a new sports reporter.

Lindsey Anderson is WDBJ7’s new weekend meteorologist.  “She’s a perfect fit for our First Alert Weather Team,” said chief meteorologist Robin Reed.  “Lindsey has an engaging on-air style, which I know viewers will appreciate from day one.”

Anderson holds a degree in meteorology from North Carolina State University.  She is looking forward to making her home in Virginia. “I’m so excited to join Robin, Brent and Leo here at WDBJ7,” she said. “This team is respected all over the country, and I’m honored to join them.”  WDBJ7 First Alert Weather has the region’s largest weather staff with four full-time meteorologists.

Brad Zahar has joined Your Hometown News Leader to work with Travis Wells and Karen Loftus on WDBJ7’s sports team.  “It’s great to have Brad with us,” said sports director Travis Wells.  “His background and work ethic are just what we need to continue to bring viewers the best of local high school and college sports.”

Zahar has covered sports for several news outlets in Ohio and West Virginia, including his alma mater, Ohio University.   “Sports reporting is so much fun,” he said.  “When your job is to be on the sidelines at Lane Stadium or Scott Stadium, It’s hard to get any better than that!”

WDBJ7 Sports has long been the leader in covering high school and college athletics including this the 30th season of “Friday Football Extra,” the area’s premier high school football highlights program.
