Boones Mill, Va. -

An old train depot in Boones Mill may be saved from demolition. The town is working with Franklin County to have the century old building moved.

Last year owners of the depot, Norfolk Southern put demolition plans on hold. For months, some residents have been trying to find ways to save the old building.

“I grew up visiting rail road stations and seeing trains with my father and my brother became a train nut and my way was just to enjoy the history of the rail road,” said resident Lois Slotnick.

A possible location to move the depot is where the Boones Mill dumpsters are located; they would be moved to another area.
