A Roanoke man is dead after he was stabbed in the chest early Saturday morning.
Joseph Redman, 30, of Roanoke, was pronounced dead at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Saturday after the stabbing incident took place near the intersection of Tazewell Avenue and 9th Street. It happened around 4:22 a.m.
According to a news release, a Roanoke police officer saw several people near the Roanoke intersection. The officer then saw a man in the 800 block of Tazewell Avenue who appeared to be bleeding. The man had suffered a wound to the chest, and he told the officer that he had been stabbed.
Roanoke Fire EMS took the victim to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The case is under investigation, and no arrests have been made.
This was the first of two early morning murders that happened minutes after each other in Roanoke.
