Emergency workers in Henry County are certain they have the answer to fix a severe mold problem that crippled the building earlier this year.

Thursday crews worked on the basement wall by adding water tight protection at the Ridgeway District Volunteer Rescue Squad building.

That wasn't part of the original construction in 1996.

Water seeped through the walls and helped form 13 types of mold spores found by environmental hazard services.

It's costing the department nearly $400,000 in renovations.

"Without the support of the community, the support of our local government, board of supervisors, the businesses, without their support we probably couldn't have come through this," said Captain Skip Smith, with the Ridgeway District Volunteer Rescue Squad.

Since our story aired in February they got several donations to cover part of the cost and the county pitched in $95,000 to help.

The department is also holding a Casino Night and silent auction on Saturday November 16th from 6pm to 10pm in Martinsville. Go to this Facebook page for more information: www.Facebook.com/rdvrscasinonight
