Roanoke College professor Dr. John Selby talks about impact of JFK and assassination.

ROANOKE, Va. -

Today marks a grim milestone in our nation's history.

It was exactly 50 years ago today that Lee Harvey Oswald shot and killed President John F- Kennedy.

A half century has passed, and our country is still both horrified and fascinated with that event.

Dr. John Selby is a history professor at Roanoke College, where he teaches a class on American Presidents.

He says we are still interested in Kennedy, thanks in large part to the television age. Selby says Americans felt they knew him and his family better than previous Presidents.
