ROANOKE, Va. -

The Roanoke City Police Department is making one boy's birthday dreams come true from hundreds of miles away.

Tyler Seddon is six years old, lives in Rhode Island and has leukemia.

Seddon also has a birthday coming up and wants to receive cards from his favorite heroes which he considers police officers and fire fighters.

Tyler's wish has gone viral on the internet and now the entire country is responding, including the city of Roanoke.

Roanoke officers and fire fighters spent Friday writing well wishes on birthday cards.

They said they were more than happy to take the time to wish him a happy birthday.

"It's impressive,” said Deputy Chief Curtis Davis with the Roanoke City Police Department. “It's humbling too. Kinda reminds you what you're here for and what you need to do."

The city of Roanoke is also sending some clothes and toys. Everything will be mailed next week.

According to reports, Tyler’s birthday is March 6. Birthday cards for Tyler can be sent to 96 South Main Street, Pascoag, R.I. 02859.
