ROANOKE, Va. -

School is either here or coming soon for several, but today seven students proved they were a bark above the rest at graduation day.

That's how many dogs finished the Roanoke City Police Academy today.

Three will work in Roanoke City, Three in Roanoke County and one will go to Rocky Mount.

The dogs and handlers completed an intensive, ten-week program to get to this day.

The dogs handlers are excited to have new partners,

Officer Travis Barber says he and his parnter, Gunner, are ready to get out there:

"It'll be good to get done and get on the street and put the dogs training to the test."

Much of the training was held a the old Northside High School in Roanoke County.
