UPDATE: Man arrested after standoff on Salem Turnpike in Roanoke

Police have arrested a man after a standoff in northwest Roanoke.
Jonathan Andrew Poff, 25, of Roanoke is in custody after the standoff on Salem Turnpike between 30th and 31st Street on Tuesday.
Poff was arrested on a domestic assault and battery warrant. An emergency protective order was also obtained and is being served.
After refusing to come out of his home and talk to police, Poff surrendered when a tactical response team deployed gas cans and a 40 mm less lethal weapon to fire warning shots.
No injuries are reported.
Poff was transported to the Roanoke City Jail.
Salem Turnpike has been re-opened to through traffic.
Police are dealing with a standoff in northwest Roanoke.
They say a man barricaded himself in a house on Salem Turnpike around 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say they have obtained warrants for this man, and he is refusing to surrender on charges related to the incident.
We do not know his name yet but we do know the warrant is for domestic assault and battery charges.
This call came in around 6:45 Tuesday night. A disorder call was made to 911. After police investigation, it became a domestic disorder.
Police say the man inside has access to weapons but investigators believe he is alone.
At this point he has refused to come outside.
Negotiators and the SWAT team are on scene and are trying to make contact with the man.
A victim who got out earlier was a woman, who is a family member of the suspect, but is not his wife.
No shots have been fired since the call came in earlier tonight and no injuries are reported.
30th and 31st streets are blocked on the Salem Turnpike.

A woman victim was in the house, who refused to go to the hospital. She is no longer inside the home. She was reportedly a family member of the suspect.
The tactical response team and negotiators are on the scene.
No shots have been fired.
30th and 31st streets are blocked off, and there is no word on any evacuations at this point.
Extra crews are in the area to ensure that everyone stays safe.
