Teen falls 25 feet from tree at Heritage Park in Blacksburg
A teenage boy is in the hospital after falling 25 feet from a tree at Heritage Park in Blacksburg.
According to Blacksburg Police, there is a tire swing that hangs above a pond at the park. The teen was trying to use the tire swing when he noticed it was caught on a limb.
When the teen stepped out on a branch to release the rope from the limb, the branch broke.
The teen fell 25 feet and landed on his back.
According to police, witnesses say he rolled into the pond, but was able to crawl halfway out before others came to help.
Officers on the scene say the teen was awake and oriented when they arrived. He was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
There is no word on the extent of his injuries.
