Lynchburg shoppers have a new destination for groceries.
The Fresh Market celebrated its grand opening Wednesday morning. The store anchors a new shopping center at the intersection of Old Forest Road and Lakeside Drive.
It offers a wide selection of locally sourced meats and produce.
"We have people out on the farms, checking the quality and working with local farmers and vendors," said store manager, William Webb. "We have a lot of grocery type items that we go out and source."
Food sampling and cooking demonstrations will be happening all day.
In honor of 9-11, five percent of Wednesday''s sales are being donated to a hero's run in Lynchburg.
The new store is the 10th Fresh Market in Virginia. It will employ between 90 and 100 people.
