HONAKER, Va. (AP) -- -

A school bus driver has been charged following a crash in Russell County that left him and three teen students injured.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says the bus ran off the left side of a gravel road on Route 671, went down an embankment and overturned onto its side around 7:30 a.m. Monday.

The driver, 63-year-old Robert Trent Jr. of St. Paul, was charged with reckless driving. Geller says speed was not a factor.

There were 11 elementary, middle and high-school students on the bus at the time. Trent and three students -- a 15-year-old female, a 14-year-old male and a 17-year-old male -- were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

A telephone message with school officials was not immediately returned.

The incident remains under investigation.
